Hello beautiful reader, welcome to another newsletter! I really hope we are able to resonate with today's topic.
Sara was an ordinary enough girl, with an ordinary life. School, friends, family and other extra curricular activities.
Then one day, Sara joined her friend Esther, and they watched a really interesting movie together. Sara really enjoyed the movie, and told Esther that she would like to join her whenever she watches any movie.
So it began.
Everyday after school, Esther and Sara would run to Esther's house and quickly settle down to watch another interesting blockbuster.
Soon, Sara started watching the movies on her own as well. If a person passed her room at 1am in the middle of the night, Sara's eyes would be glued to the screen of her laptop, watching the latest, or even an old movie.
As expected, her grades dropped. She stopped spending as much time with her friends and family and withdrew into herself. From wanting to be a lawyer, she suddenly wanted to be an actress.
One day, Sara ran into her room as usual and stopped short when she saw that her laptop was not on her bed. She noticed a book on her bed, with a note from her father.
"Read a chapter of this book, summarize it in a neat journal, then come and retrieve your laptop from me".
Sara grumbled, murmured, begged and cried even. Her father would not be moved. That night, after crying her eyes out... she started the book.
What is the Law of Motion?
Newton's law of motion is a fundamental principle in physics that describes how objects move and interact with each other.
There are three laws under the general law of motion. I believe this Law of Motion, can be applicable to the way we humans develop, even when we are not aware.
An object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion, until an external force is applied, (Law of Inertia).
The book was one on how to grow better habits. Sara read the first chapter, "How to manage time better".
She wasn't a great reader, so she read the chapter for four days. On the fifth day, while summarizing the chapter for her father, she realised that she woke up 3 hours earlier than she usually would. She had also completed almost all her chores, which usually would take her forever. She smiled, writing more happily.
The more force you apply to an object, the faster it will accelerate, and the more mass an object has, the harder it will be to accelerate. (Law of Acceleration)
It had been two weeks since Sara's father gave her the book and she was slowly but surely changing. Everyone was amazed and so was she.
However, in all of this, Sara still watched a lot of movies once her father returned her laptop to her, she just couldn't stop. Her father noticed she was still watching movies.
He gave her another book, focused on breaking addictions. Then he told her he would give her the laptop once a week, once she'd finished three chapters.
After three weeks, Sara had watched only two movies.
When one object exerts a force on another object, the second object exerts an equal and opposite force back on the first object. (Action-Reaction Law)
Sarah started meeting her father for more books.
She no longer watched movies, except with her family. She didn't care about movies anymore, books were her life! She also found her purpose; she would not be a lawyer or an actress, she would be an essayist. From summarizing the books for her father she realized how much she loved inputing her own ideas about the books she read.
The law of motion in relation to humans really means that no matter what, once an external force comes into our restful or routine life, the course will always change, whether we realize or not.
For Sara, that force was first Esther and her movies, then her father and his books.
Why not become your own external force?
Finally friends, our daily manual, the word of God states; "but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers."
Don't let only books and intellectual knowledge be your external force, let the word of God be the greatest force in your life, pushing you to be transformed to the image of God, our father.
Here at Everything Written, we are more than willing to be one of the many forces pushing you towards your ordained greatness.
